Is AI going to take all knowledge work jobs?

by

According to an economist at a recent MIT podcast, "Me myself and AI", the biggest misconception of AI is that it will replace humans.

What is most likely to happen and is happening across the tech field is individuals incorporating AI with their work. Referred to as augmentation. That is humans working alongside AI. Also some businesses have added additional AI processes to their existing workflows. Referred to as diffusion.

The common trades are still unaffected by this AI adoption. This is due to the requirement of training LLMs for the specific common trade, and from the knowledge sources of the trade.

New models specific to the trade have to be trained by data annotation individuals.

The data annotators will need to have deep knowledge and understanding of the specific common trade. The example given by the economist in the podcast was for an Electrician. Currently it's mostly the tech sector devouring itself and degrading its market value.

As the adoption of AI continues in the Tech field. The stock price of Automattic (maker of WordPress) is slowly going back to pre-pandemic levels.
